Buffalo State Alumnus, Lazarus Lynch, to compete in the finals on the Food Network's popular show, "Chopped"
With the intent of choosing Buffalo State for its health, dietetics and nutrition program, Lazarus Lynch, ’16, soon realized he could pursue his interest of social media and entrepreneurship, by obtaining an
Individualized Studies degree with a concentration in Communication. While Lynch was a Buffalo State student, he created a popular web series titled, “
My College Kitchen.” In this nine part series, Lynch taught students living dorm life, how to put together a meal with few ingredients while on a budget.
Since graduating, he has appeared on multiple Food Network shows including
Beat Bobby Flay,
Chopped,
Chopped Junior, the
Kitchen and
Unique Sweets. He is currently competing on the Food Network ongoing series, Chopped, where four Chefs utilize their culinary skills as they compete against each other to create a three-course meal. The catch is in each round, each Chef has to use all the ingredients the show gives them, no matter how unusual.
Lynch is in the running for a $50,000 prize and set to make an appearance in the final round April 25, which will air on Food Network at 10pm. The prize money will be donated to a charity. Lynch has stated, “I just want to say I am competing for the 4-H program, which put me through college which allowed me to get to where I am today.”
