What is one of your fondest memories of Buffalo State?
My fondest memories of Buffalo State include planning a hypothetical schedule and then signing up MANUALLY for classes each semester. Seniors were first and so on down the line. It was a challenge, and a rush, as you entered the large hall, approached the tables for each course you hoped to register for, met the professors (who sat behind those long tables), and received an IBM card coded with the course number--if there was an opening in the class. If there wasn't, you could always practice persuasion to convince the professor to MANUALLY add you in. What a way to begin the semester!
Were you involved with any on-campus organizations as a student?
I lived at home and worked two jobs throughout my college career. I graduated in three years magna cum laude. This didn't leave much time for on-campus organizations.
How did graduating from Buffalo State shape your future?
From when I was a very young child, I always wanted to be a teacher. I realized that dream as a result of graduation from Buffalo State with a degree in Elementary Education with an extension in English 7-9. I have taught students from preschool to graduate level and have published seven books for educators on the topic of literacy.
