Bengal Tales – Daniel Klein
Class Year: 2016
Degree: B.S. in Childhood Education
Current Occupation: Graduate Assistant/SUNY Buffalo State
What is one of your fondest memories of Buffalo State?
One of my fondest memories of Buffalo State is when I would meet up with friends in Butler library to study for our classes together. I spent a lot of time during my first two years on campus on each floor of that building to research, study, and nap.
Were you involved with any on-campus organizations as a student?
I was, and still am, involved with the Elementary Education Club and the Professional Development Schools (PDS) Consortium on campus. These organizations helped to shape me into the person that I am today.
What did you experience at Buffalo State that best prepared you for your career in education?
When I took the initiative to involve myself in organizations and activities outside of the classroom, I definitely took a way a lot more than I ever though I would. These extra curricular activities helped to prepare me in ways that being inside of a classroom simply could not do by its self.
What accomplishments have you achieved since graduating from Buffalo State? Also, please share any other positions that you've previously held in education.
Immediately after graduation, I was asked if I could substitute teach at a school that I had attended during my placement as an undergraduate student. It was extremely rewarding to know that I was valued so highly that I would be asked to do this right after graduation.
Do you have any advice for current students trying to achieve success after graduation?
Always keep pushing your limits and never stop to say that you cannot accomplish something.
